What is Fabric Fest? It is three days of quilting, sewing, and creating to your heart's content! Attendees will learn from great instructors and speakers from around the world! Classes, lectures, make & takes, and entertainment for all attendees! AND Bring a Pillowcase to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (September) .. ConKerr Cancer will be onsite!

Need for Community Service 'sewn' into students ...

... that will last a life-time!
The students at Phoenixville Area Middle School, Family and Consumer Science class have been learning the life skill of sewing and at the same time, the life lesson of community service. Over the past 4 years, Phoenixville Area Middle School 7th graders have made and contributed over 1200 pillowcases to ConKerr Cancer ... made possible through the continued support of their teacher, their parents and the School Board.
Since the School Board members couldn't be 'in the classroom' while the students were sewing their cheerful pillowcase smiles, they brought them to the school board meeting and proudly displayed them on the clothesline ..
The students presented ConKerr Cancer with pillowcase smiles to be delivered to local hospitals ... Carsten, Cameron, Jillian, Lyndsey and Ms. Wallingford, we Thank YOU for your wonderful support and inspiration!

It is so refreshing to attend a sewing event where our nation’s youth are taking the time out of their busy schedules of school and extra-curricular activities to make a difference for their peers. On Sunday evening I helped the youth group at Wayne Presbyterian church in Wayne, PA make over 70 pillowcases. It was so cool that over 2/3 of the kids had already made pillowcases for us in their local schools. I know that their compassion for others will continue throughout their lives. Thanks so much! ... through pillowcase smiles!
During a recent 'Community Expo' at Teva Pharamaceutical, "Ted" stopped by the ConKerr booth to 'share' a story ... his sister lives in Florida and sews with the group: "Teresa's Sweatshop" ... this group has made over 1,200 pillowcase smiles since getting together in 2008 .. amazing!!!
As Cindy often says ... 'you never know where a pillowcase will take you' ... it can be the 'thread' for connecting families that are separated by miles but sharing SMILES!
