A younger brother, inspired his older brother to take action and help create 'smiles' for the children who are battling life changing illnesses. Kevin (a student at WCU) remembered when his younger brother was working on his Eagle Scout project .. ConKerr Cancer. He says it had a lasting impression on him and he wanted to do something similar.
A recent Monday in April, found a group of students, supported by a local quilt group, Calico Cutters, completing a semester long project of smile making for ConKerr Cancer, Philadelphia chapter.
The students raised all the money to buy fabric and supplies to make 142 awesome pillowcases. They will donate the remaining fabric so more 'smiles' can be made. We couldn't have done it without the team from Calico Cutters and of course, Kevin's mom who helped every stitch of the way!
Are there plans to do this again next year? Absolutely! says Kevin who led this effort for WCU and he plans to make it an even bigger event!
